Odds And Ends
There has been so much going on here lately, that I have not had the time to write. Physical Therapy is going good, though I ditched pool therapy. Even though the water was 86 degrees, it was too cold for me. It hurt the rods in my back, making me ache to the point of tears, so I decided to stay out of the pool. My PT was increased this week to add to my 20-30 min on the treadmill and some abdominal exercises, to now include the elliptical trainer, stationary bike, some weight machines for my legs and arms, and more (harder) abdominal exercises. I was told that I am doing great for being six weeks post op. I have to lay down still during the day, or at night I hurt so bad that I have to take pain pills and muscle relaxers to move in the morning. I still have to pay close attention to always having my body in proper alignment.
Ft. Bragg is getting closer and closer. Tuesday we went to transportation and arranged to have our household goods packed April 3rd and picked up April 4th. Our next door neighbors are moving to Bragg about the same time we are, as are one of the families on the street behind us, and we are all trying to get the same cleaning guy. This guy only charges around $200.00 when other cleaners charge $400.00. He only works on a first come, first serve basis, so trying to beat everyone else to locking him in is not easy. For those who do not know how the Army housing works when it comes to clearing, it goes like this. To be able to "clear" housing, you must have your house inspected, both in and out. The house must be spotless. The floors must be stripped, wax put down, then everything buffed out. No dust in the vents, or ceiling fans, oven clean, weeds removed from the rocks, and on and on. Now, if you clear housing yourself, they find little things to keep having you do over and over. You never leave. What you do is hire a cleaning team to do the work for you. You sign a contract saying how much you are paying them, they sign saying they will do the work, and you take the contract and the money order made out to the cleaning team to housing and they clear you. Then the cleaning team arrives, cleans your house, and the inspector checks on the cleaning team. When they pass, they get their money. I have only heard of one person ever clearing housing on their own. It is pretty much a given, you must hire a cleaning team.
I have the cleaning team coming out for a preinspection tomorrow to let me know what I can clean to drop the price. Now mind you, I have not been able to "clean" in months because of my back. It is still hard to stoop, or get on my hands and knees to mop, but I will do my best.
DH is getting ready for his next (and final) school. Next week is his last week in the school he is in, then it is off to his next school. Sunday we talked to a guy who finished this same school on Tuesday, so we have a heads up on what to expect. LONG hours. He said that the first month, he often would not get home until 11:00 PM. Ahh the joys of being a single parent again or an "intel widow" as I like to say. I am so proud of what dh will be doing, but the hours will not be all that fun.
We are planning a cruise in between the move to Ft. Bragg. A week of nothing but relaxation and fun will be nice. No beds to make, no meals to cook, nothing to clean, ahhh yes, I will be ready. We are all getting excited about it.
We were to close on our new house March 31st, but we managed to get it pushed back to April 10th for the walk through and the 11th for the closing. I am praying that the builders will get it done the way I asked. I will be ready for my jacuzzi tub. I know that the children at first will want to take baths in our tub, but as the newness wears off, hopefully their boring little bathtub will seem tolerable to them. That is always the highlight of going to dh parents house in West Palm (our "retirement" home) is that when dh drew up those house plans, he insured that the master bath would have the garden jacuzzi tub. I enjoy it when we our at our home in West Palm, so wanted it in our home at Bragg as well. It will be wonderful for my back as well.
Well I need to get off here and get some things done around the house. I need to try and get my floors mopped, and the baseboards wiped down before my PT appt at 1300. Tomorrow I just might clean my oven. =)
Have a wonderful day in the Lord.
